The WAHT is featured in a full page article in Community Housing Aotearoa’s Annual Report 1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025 which was circulated in November 2025.
The article is included in the section of the report called Our members: Our communities and is titled:
“New homes opening doors for people with serious physical disabilities”. The first two paragraphs are;
The Whangārei Accessible Housing Trust has added nine new, state of the art accessible homes to its portfolio. The new homes help address the well-known problem of a lack of affordable and accessible homes for children and adults with serious physical disabilities.
The homes have been built across two separate developments. Three homes are in Onerahi and for disabled people under 65 and six homes are in Glenbervie. The homes go above and beyond offering usual accessible features. Using feedback from existing tenants and innovative design, the homes include extra accessible features such as adjustable kitchen benches to accommodate variable wheelchair heights.
