As discussed in the Tenant Surveys page, the Trust is dedicated to ensuring that each individual tenants needs are being met. This is to enable their home to be as user friendly for their disability or impairment and allowing them to have as much independence as possible.
Below are just some of the improvements/developments we have made so far for our tenants following on from information gathered during the Tenant Surveys.
Shade Sail
This shade sail was built to help one of the tenants who was sensitive to the sun. By installing the shade sail it meant that the tenant could still get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air.
The Trust has also installed shade sail areas in some other properties backyards to allow outdoor enjoyment.
Security Doors
In 2024 the Trust embarked on installing security screen doors at the front door on all of our properties. This enables our tenants to get fresh air and ventilation through the home whilst maintaining their security and safety when the solid front door is open.
Additional Concrete
This concrete was laid next to the existing path to widen the accessway to the clothesline. This is to allow our tenants to access the clothesline independently whilst ensuring they have enough width to turn around when using a wheelchair or mobility scooter safely.
The Trust has also laid extra concrete in other properties to allow extra access to the side and back of property.
Block out Blinds
Block out blinds were installed in one of the homes due to light sensitivity issues.
Electronic Door Opener
Due to their impairment, one tenant was unable to open the front door when home alone. The Trust felt this was a safety issue for the tenant, so sourced and installed an electronic door opener so they were able to open the front door independently.
Security Vision at Front Door
Wheelchair height security “peepholes” placed within front door so tenant can see (and confirm) who is at the front door before potentially opening the front door.
Privacy Fence
A higher fence was constructed to give the tenants more privacy from the neighboring property.
